Start date: 14/08/2009

MUSIC store bosses hope to raise thousands of pounds for charity in an auction of musical equipment.

The Academy of Sound, Hanley, is holding an in-store auction on Saturday, August 22, to raise cash for the Donna Louise Children's Hospice Trust.

Lots up for grabs include Fender and Yamaha guitars, Ashdown amps, and digital editing software from Roland, Steinberg and Focusrite.

The items, worth thousands of pounds, were donated by the makers after Rob Mulliner, managing partner at the Hillchurch Street shop, asked for help with fund-raising.

He said: "After the support we've had we really wanted to give something back to the community, and this is reflected in our decision to support the Donna Louise Children's Hospice Trust."

Demonstrators from the companies who have donated instruments will also be performing on the day.

The shop raised £500 for the Trust in July after donating an autographed Chesney Hawkes guitar.

The auction starts at 2pm
