Two of Stoke City' first team stars broke through the pain barrier to raise money for seriously-ill children.

Striker Jon Parkin joined goalie Russell Hoult for a waxing session in aid of the Donna Louise Trust, at BBC Radio Stoke, in Hanley, yesterday.

Jon, a former Hull player, had his chest and shoulders done, while Russell had his legs and arms waxed.

He said: "I had never really heard of the organisation before I came here, but now I have been down there and seen the kids for myself, I want to help and get them some money.

"It was touching to be honest when we went to visit them, and that is why I am doing this."
